Can I Really Work and Go To School?

Job Reactor 22 October, 2019

The idea of working and also going to school sounds very daunting to some people. In fact many people won't even attempt both. The truth is, though, you really can go to school and work at the same time. Here are a few tips to keep in mind if you are thinking about juggling both work and school.

Time Management

Without great time management skills you will find working while going to school very difficult. The number one reason people get discouraged while working and going to school is because they cannot figure out how to manage their time effectively. With good time management skills you will be shocked at how much you can get accomplished in a day. You can start working on your time management skills by taking an honest inventory of how you spend your time each day. If you are honest with yourself, you will discover you actually have more time on your hands than you thought.

Self- Discipline

The next most important aspect of working and going to school is self-discipline. If you have set a goal for yourself of earning an income while still attending school, then it will be up to you to make sure you make the necessary changes to accommodate this decision. No one can do this for you. This is a great opportunity to prove to yourself that you can do more than  you previously thought. Think of it as a personal challenge to yourself. Set rules for yourself and stick to them.

Looking at the Big Picture

It is important to remind yourself often of the big picture. Why are you working toward this goal? Where are you headed? Keeping your goal in mind will help you get through the day to day challenges of working and going to school.

Working and going to school can be difficult. With time management skills, self-discipline and an eye on the big picture, you can accomplish this goal.
